PFBC’s HLF Digitising Project – Photographs
Within the researching and recording of History it is important to enjoy details of the primary source: Photographs are highly significant to the History of Aviation and are the backbone of PFBC’s Archives. As a Charity, PFBC is very fortunate to have access to extensive collections of such wonderful Photos. PFBC is very grateful to the Friends of PFBC and other supporters, who have contributed these items.
*Please contact PFBC if you also have any items you would like us to record and to display the details.
Within PFBC’s Archives the wide range of Photos provide a comprehensive History of Aviation when highlighting the role/s of Poole’s Flying Boats & Seaplanes within the context of a global perspective. For educational purposes, Photos provide a vital introduction of Aviation topics to young generations: for since the early 1900s, Aviation Photos have been significant to our Local History across all Dorset.
It is prospected that many Photos collected by PFBC will be made available via our dedicated website. PFBC believes that this is a tangible way in which to celebrate + pay our tribute to the photographers.
Whilst Photos feature the subject within in scene at a specific moment, often the background reveals * incidental, significant info. (variously unexpected), that is captured within the photographic image. However, conversely during WW2, Photos were subject to restrictions & the Censors’ white smudges.
*Whilst the range of our items will be of interest / useful to research they are protected by copyright.
